Gallerie Alternatives

11:00 am – 7:00 pm

There is a particular pleasure in encountering art without being hurried through it. At Gallerie Alternatives, a considered selection of works brings together some of Indian art's most recognisable voices alongside a contemporary practice rooted in the intimate language of line, form and memory.

At the heart of the showcase is K. S. Radhakrishnan's bronze sculpture, carrying the distinctive sense of movement and human presence that makes sculpture feel almost alive. Nearby, Sakti Burman's oil on canvas draws the eye into a more painterly, dream-like world, while Krishen Khanna's oils on paper demonstrate how scale need not limit the emotional weight of a work.

The conversation then shifts towards the intricacy of Priyanka M. Dhingra's practice. Working with pen and inks, sanguine and graphite washes on paper, Dhingra explores figurative forms, womanhood and nature through finely constructed lines. There is an almost meditative quality to these compositions, where the female form and elements of the natural world appear to grow into one another.

Her 9 Devi Series (2026) extends this exploration through nine individual works, created with pen and inks and acrylics on Gris paper. The series brings a contemporary sensitivity to the feminine and the sacred, inviting closer looking rather than instant interpretation.

Together, the works create an engaging cross-generational encounter: bronze beside paper, established masters beside a contemporary voice, and differing artistic languages held within one intimate setting.

Founded in 1999 by Mannu Dosaj, Gallerie Alternatives has long championed this accessibility, presenting paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations by established and emerging artists from India and overseas, with the aim of bringing fine art closer to both seasoned collectors and curious new audiences.
